For various reasons, there are children in society who have no guardians or who are unable to receive appropriate care from their guardians, making it difficult for them to be raised at home. There is a system known as “social welfare” that provides public protection and support to children in these circumstances, under the public responsibility (national and local governments), and supports their families.

Hitsujigaoka Nursery School is a child welfare facility that embodies this system. Children admitted are generally between the ages of 2 and 18 who are deemed to require social welfare. The facility has a capacity of 45 children and six children in a small-scale local child welfare facility (group home), for a total of 51 children. Admission to the facility is decided through a child consultation center. If you have any concerns about raising your child, please consult your local child consultation center.
