JR Tokyo General Hospital was established in 1911 as a business of the Railway Bureau Employees Relief Union, and has a history of over 100 years. After the privatization of Japanese National Railways in 1987, it became a hospital directly managed by East Japan Railway Company. Since then, it has transformed from an occupational hospital into a general hospital, and has been working tirelessly in its daily medical care to contribute to the treatment of illnesses and maintenance of health for the local community and the wider public.

As part of the JR East Group’s social and local contributions, our hospital’s primary focus is providing safe, high-quality medical services. Located in Shinjuku, a sub-center of Tokyo, we aim to be a “patient-first hospital” that combines “cure” and “care.” “Cure” refers to high-quality, advanced medical care, and our entire staff works together to contribute to the treatment, prevention, and health promotion of our patients. “Care” refers to consideration, and we aim to be a hospital of choice for the community and patients through easy access, warm patient service, and compassionate consultations. We also focus on clinical education for young doctors and medical staff, nurse training, and physician work style reform.
