An NPO that has been supporting children and young people in Miyagi and Sendai since the Great East Japan Earthquake.
Asiku was established in response to the Great East Japan Earthquake in March 2011. Through partnerships with citizens, businesses, and government, we are tackling the various challenges facing children and young people, including child poverty, which was highlighted by the disaster.
The number of children and young people who face difficulties in life, such as poverty, school refusal, social withdrawal, and abuse, continues to increase. Behind these difficulties lie difficulties and lack of support at home, and the reality is that families alone cannot support them. Asiku continues to connect with children and young people through support for learning and a place to belong, listening to their voices and facing their challenges.
