Shimazoe no Oka is a child welfare facility known as a “child welfare facility.” It accepts children who, due to various family circumstances, are unable to live with their parents, providing them with a home-like environment. Specialized child welfare staff care for the children on their parents’ behalf.
Children generally range in age from 1 to 17 years old, but in special circumstances, they may remain at the facility until age 19. Children are admitted to Shimazoe no Oka after consultation and procedures with the prefecture’s child consultation center. The staff who directly care for the children at Shimazoe no Oka are certified child guidance counselors and childcare workers.
