In Japan, a large amount of safe-to-eat food is thrown away every day. Since 2007, our organization has been running a food bank in Okinawa Prefecture to utilize this wasteful food. Okinawa Prefecture has an extremely high poverty rate compared to the rest of the country, and there are many people in need of food.
To help those in need, we accept food donations from households as well as companies both within and outside the prefecture. In collaboration with municipal governments, social welfare councils, education-related organizations, and child support organizations, we provide wasteful food through collaboration with the entire local community, working to realize a sustainable society.
