We, the Sendai Christian Church, belong to the Anglican Church in Japan. The Anglican Church is a large, traditional Christian church with a membership of approximately 70 million people in approximately 160 countries. Historically, the parent body of the Anglican Church worldwide is the Church of England. The Sendai Christian Church has a membership of approximately 200 people, and our Sunday services are held in a solemn manner that respects Christian traditions.
In addition, there is the Nishinohira St. Paul Mission in Kongosawa, Taihaku Ward, on the outskirts of Sendai City, and the St. Peter Mission in Nagameigaoka, Izumi Ward, both of which provide services and work closely with the local community. In particular, the St. Peter Mission has been supporting disabled children and the mothers who are raising them through the work of the “Hikari Toy Library,” which has a history of activity of over 30 years.
