The police station opened on April 1, 1944, at 12 Sekiba, Sendai City, with a staff of 89, including the chief. A four-story office building was constructed on the same site in September 1962. However, due to the limited space and aging of the building, the station relocated to its current location on March 21, 1993.
The police station is located in the Nagamachi district of Taihaku Ward, approximately 5 kilometers south of the city center. It covers Taihaku Ward, with a population of approximately 230,000. The area is located in the southwestern part of Sendai, stretching east-west along the Natori River. Its jurisdiction extends westward to Mount Daito and Mount Omoshiro, bordering Yamagata Prefecture. The area is home to Akiu Onsen, Sendai’s inner sanctum. The area is a strategic transportation hub, with access to the Tohoku Expressway, Sendai Southern Road, National Route 4, National Route 286, the Sendai City Subway, and the JR Tohoku Main Line.
